1st Warning (1988-1993) Edit

Warning: It's almost the same as the original variant of the 1982-1991 Vestron Video warning screen, except the background is black and the warning text is not double-spaced. The warning text reads "The material on this video product is protected by copyright. It is for use by purchaser only and any other use including copying or reproduction, in whole or in part, is prohibited by law."

Variants:

  • Starting in late 1992 with the original VHS of Barney's Birthday, the warning text is modified and in a bold Dom Casual font, and is not justified. The warning text in this variant reads: "NOTICE: This recording and all constituent elements are protected by the copyright laws and other laws of the United States of America and of other Nations. The unauthorized use, rerecording, or duplication of this Program, in whole or in part, is a violation of the rights of the Owner and others, and may constitute a criminal offense punishable by substantial fines and/or imprisonment."
  • On the original 1993 VHS of Barney's Magical Musical Adventure, the "NOTICE:" header in the later variant is removed.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Rare. Seen on early Lyons Group releases such as all Barney & the Backyard Gang videos, including the 1992 reprints. The later variant is less common, but can be seen on the original tapes of Barney's Birthday, Barney's Magical Musical Adventure, Barney's Best Manners, and Barney Rhymes with Mother Goose.

Scare Factor: None.

2nd Warning (1993-1996) Edit

Warning: Same as the 1987-1992 Media Home Entertainment warning screen.

FX/SFX: None, except for the fading.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Much more common than the previous warning. Can be found on later Lyons Group releases, which includes Barney's Home Sweet Homes, Let's Pretend with Barney, Barney's Alphabet Zoo, Barney's Imagination Island, Barney Live! In New York City, Barney: Families are Special, Barney Safety, Barney's Making New Friends, Riding in Barney's Car, and Barney's All Aboard for Sharing. Also seen on the 1993 reprints of Barney: Waiting for Santa, Barney's Birthday, Barney's Best Manners, and Barney Rhymes with Mother Goose, as well as the 1995 reprints of Barney in Concert and Barney's Magical Musical Adventure.

Scare Factor: None.

3rd Warning (March 26, 1996-March 11, 2003, March 4, 2017) Edit

Warning: Same as the 1987-1992 Media Home Entertainment warning screen, except it takes place on a purple stone background with yellow text. Also, the lining of the text is different, and the line above "INTERPOL WARNING" is absent.

Variants:

  • The releases of VeggieTales: The Ultimate Silly Song Countdown and Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie use similar warnings, except the FBI seal is absent, the background isn't stone - instead, the background is just regular blue, the text is in an Arial font, and the lining of the text is different.
  • The 1999 Lyrick Studios release of VeggieTales: Very Silly Songs! only uses the first FBI warning screen (much like it's Everland Entertainment copy).

FX/SFX: None, except for the fading.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Much more common than the previous warning. It first appeared on the 1996 tapes of Barney's Talent Show, Barney In Concert, and Rock with Barney. Can be found on all Lyrick Studios VHS releases of the era, as well as early HiT Entertainment releases. Also found on some VeggieTales tapes from Word/Everland Entertainment.

Scare Factor: None.
